Ian Turner

Always having had a fascination with the 19 century and early 20 century explorers in the polar regions, Ian jumped at the opportunity to join the team. A chartered accountant, Ian retired as a Partner at KPMG in early 2004.

Ian now works as the Finance Director of Bristol Cancer Help Centre, the holistic Cancer charity, helping them develop their operations and move into a new home.

Ian also works with the boards of companies helping them develop their financial and strategic objectives.

The expedition allows Ian to satisfy an ambition to walk unassisted to the North Pole with the bonus of being able to assist in raising the £4.5million the “New Dawn Appeal” is planning to raise for the Bristol Cancer help Centre.

Ian was brought up in Norfolk, attending Norwich School, went to Loughbourgh University and then moved to the South West to train as an accountant. Although his work has taken him all over the world he has maintained a family home near Monmouth, South Wales, for 20 years where he lives with his wife Alison and three children, Sam, Tim and Abraham. Alison works as a Psychologist and their children go to the Haberdashers schools in Monmouth.
